Dr. ZHOU Zhicheng is one of the most outstanding experts of China in the field of satellite system engineering and astro-dynamics. As chief designer and project manager, he has succeeded in leading his team to develop DFH-4 bus, a new-generation large-scale GEO satellite common bus. For the prominent contributions on Venesat-1 project (based on DFH-4 bus), Prof. ZHOU obtained First Class Prize of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award. With consistent effort, he, then as project manager, dedicated to DFH-4S bus (DFH-4 Small and Smart bus) research to develop advanced bus technology. The maiden flight of DFH-4S bus----Laosat-1, successfully launched in 2015, has great significance for ‘one Belt one Road’ strategy of China. Furthermore, he also made notable contributions on space business as well as international project management and director of ITS, CAST. Under his leadership and promotion, DFH-4 series bus products enter the international market and have gained worldwide recognition. Based on these buses, he developed numbers of telecommunication satellites for both governmental customers and international operators, which have achieved enormous economic and social benefits, and promoted international influence of Chinese space industry. Currently, he, acting as program manager, is leading the development of Chinese next generation GEO bus—DFH-5, which is an ultra-large common bus and scheduled to be qualified in 2018. Due to his academy capabilities and great contributions, he was selected for multi-positions of expert members by both Chinese government and academic organizations.
